English IV
Course Description
English IV provides seniors with instruction in the
areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
The course will focus on British literature and emphasize the
major authors and works from the Anglo-Saxon to the modern period.
Significant units of study will include, but are not limited to:
Chaucer’s The Canterbury
Tales, Milton’s
Paradise Lost, and Shakespeare’s
The Tragedy of Macbeth.
Composition in the course will consist of technical, personal,
and creative writing assignments ranging from analytical research to
reflective journals. In
class, students will actively participate in group discussions, class
readings, and instructional presentations by taking notes and answering
questions. As preparation
for collegiate and professional careers, students will participate in
group presentations, present individual speeches, and produce
professional documents.
