Course Description

This class is designed to enable students to become comfortable and competent communicating in a public forum.  Through the study of communication theories and practical applications, students’ knowledge of communicating and their ability to do so will improve throughout the semester.  Interactive speaking and acting games, prepared presentations, and impromptu speeches will provide students with a multiplicity of opportunities to practice speaking in front of others All six of the Common Core State Standards for Speaking and Listening will be assessed.  The types of speeches given will include, but are not limited to the following:  informative, persuasive, multimedia, group persuasive, and oral interpretation.
