Marching
Band
We start
the year off with Marching Band. The week before school starts,
the students attend a band camp at the school. The camp is held
for 2 hours every night, Monday through Thursday. During this
time, the students begin to learn the music and rhythms for the
half-time show. This time also allows the new freshmen to get
used to high school band. Once school starts, we practice during
band class and learn the formations outside on the field.
Everyone works very hard so we can entertain the crowd at the football
games.
On top of learning the half-time show, the students
also practice marching for the parades. The first parade is the
Fall Festival Parade. This parade happens at the start of
September. We play the Star Spangled Banner to start it off, and
then play and march to another song during the actual parade. The
second parade is the Homecoming Parade, which the band leads.
This parade takes place during the beginning of October.
