BIOLOGY I
Grade 9--Two Semesters
Biology I is a class that looks at a variety of introductory biological concepts such as classification, genetics, microbiology, ecology, and class projects. The class requires good reading and note taking skills, lab studies and techniques, group work skills, and proper class attendance and participation. Grades are based on daily assignments, quizzes, book and lecture tests, lab quizzes, lab reports, group projects, and individual projects. Assignment completion, note taking, and class participation are a must to receive a passing grade.

BIOLOGY II
Grades 11-12--Two Semesters
Biology II. is a class that looks at a variety of advanced biological issues such as mammalian anatomy and physiology, genetics, cell and tissue functions, cell metabolism, etc.. The class requires much reading, memorization of anatomical parts and vocabulary, and lab studies and techniques for a more mature student. Grades are based on daily assignments, quizzes, book and lecture tests, lab quizzes and hands-on tests, lab reports, outside text readings, and projects. Assignment completion, note taking, and class participation are a must to receive a passing grade.

Prerequisite: Biology I
PHYSICAL
SCIENCE
Grade 10--Two Semesters
This is an introductory course to physics. The emphasis is on relationship
between the natural laws of science and the daily lives of the students.
The concepts of scientific measurement, energy, electromagnetism, motion,
waves (light and sound) and work are presented through a combination
of lectures, demonstrations, special projects, and hands on laboratory
experiences.

EARTH SCIENCE
Grades 11-12--Two Semesters
Earth Science is a class that looks at a variety of introductory geological concepts such as mapping, processes that shape and move the earth, rock and mineral identification, and the earth's geological history. The class requires good reading and note taking skills, lab studies, group work skills, and proper class attendance and participation. Grades are based on daily assignments, quizzes, book and lecture tests, lab quizzes, lab reports, group projects, and individual projects. Assignment completion, note taking, and class participation are a must to receive a passing grade. The class involves hands on laboratory experiences with identifying rocks and minerals, mapping, and plate tectonics.

Prerequisites: Physical Science and Biology I
CHEMISTRY
Grades 10-12--Two Semesters
This course involves the study of the composition and properties of matter and the laws that govern the combination of elements. Laboratory experiences will supplement and reinforce topics. Prerequitsite: Junior/Senior and Algebra II/Geometry or currently enrolled.
Credit: 1
ADVANCED
CHEMISTRY
Grades 10-12--Two Semesters
This course reviews and expands upon topics covered in first year Chemistry.
These include atomic and molecular structure, nomenclature, conversions
(atoms/molecules, mass, moles), and the periodic table. In addition,
advanced topics are introduced. These include precipitation reactions,
acid/base chemistry, organic chemistry, and redox reactions. More extensive
and open ended laboratory work is performed than in Chemistry. Also,
additional readings addressing issues in science (environmental, technological,
etc.) are used.
Credit: 1
PHYSICS
Grades 11-12--Two Semesters
To provide an opportunity for students to become familiar with the characteristics
and associated reactions of force, matter, energy, simple machines,
wave motion, electricity, magnetism. The student will have an opportunity
to review physical laws and determine physical laws by doing experiments
with hands on equipment in the laboratory and by demonstrations by the
teacher. Prerequisite: Algebra II/Geometry or currently enrolled.
