ART CLUB

The purpose of art club is to perpetuate and promote the arts in our school and community.

DRAMA CLUB

Open to all interested students, EHS Drama Club produces one play in the fall of the year and participates in the Performing Arts Night in the spring. Students who make a major contribution to the EHS drama program are eligible for a Drama Club letter. In addition to production, the drama club attends other plays at area theatres, and letter winners may participate in the annual High School Theatre Festival, a two-day event filled with workshops and plays.

FCA

Fellowship of Christian Athletes was started in 2001. FCA is an athletic ministry, its primary constituency being athletes and coaches from the junior high through professional levels. The Elmwood FCA chapter is an active chapter which meets twice a month providing athletes, coaches and all involved with athletics a place to worship with others.

FCCLA (Family Career & Community Leaders of America)

Student organization which accompanies family and consumer science classes. This is a national organization. Students may participate in local, section, regional, state and national activities. It is open to both males and females.

FFA

The primary aim of the FFA is the development of agricultural leadership, cooperation, and citizenship.

KEY CLUB

Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. What makes Key Club so successful is the fact that it is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. Members of the Kiwanis International family, Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and communities. Key Club is open to all high school students interested in serving their community and school.

LETTERMAN'S CLUB

Anyone who has earned a varsity letter in any sport; cheerleading, or pom pons, along with a minimum accumulation of points derived from participation in a variety of actitivites.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Students may apply for membership in the Elmwood Chapter of the National Honor Society. Membership is open to sophomore, junior, and senior students based on academic work. Selection for membership takes into consideration not only scholarship, but also leadership, character, and community service. Continued membership is dependent on agreeing to and maintaining those standards set forth in the selection process.

SADD

Students Against Destructive Decision was revived in 2001 to help students take a stand against destructive choices. SADD provides students with the best prevention and intervention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, drunk driving, drug abuse and other destructive decisions. The Elmwood SADD chapter sponsors several programs throughout the year raising the consciousness of drinking and driving throughout the student body.

SCHOLASTIC BOWL

Scholastic Bowl presents students with an opportunity to test their academic knowledge and quick recall against teams from other high schools in tournaments throughout the school year.

SPANISH CLUB

The purpose of the Spanish Club is to stimulate interest in Spanish speaking countries and to let interested students become better acquainted with the customs and language. The requirement for the club is to have completed one year of Spanish. Spanish Club fundraising is earmarked for foreign travel. Every 2 years the students are offered the opportunity to travel abroad.

SPEECH TEAM

Individual events in twelve areas are offered to students for participation. At least two tournaments are entered each year as well as participation in the IHSA tournament in February.

STUDENT COUNCIL

The purpose of the student council is to build a good relationship among the student body, faculty, and administration. The council provides a forum for student expression through its members.
