"I'm excited about having the opportunity to not only be the superintendent of an extraordinary district, but to also be a member of a fantastic community. I am thrilled about having my kids attend such an amazing district, with fantastic teachers and staff. I know that things will not always be easy, and there will be new things to learn and challenges to face, but with a positive attitude, an energetic approach, and a commitment to do the best job I can possibly do, I am confident that the Elmwood School District will continue to succeed!"
Dr. Chad M. Wagner
Elmwood Community Schools
About Dr. Wagner
This is Dr. Wagner's third year with Elmwood Community Schools.
He is honored to be in the role of superintendent of the Elmwood School District. He and his family are happy to be a part of such a wonderful community. Dr. Wagner is originally from Dubuque, Iowa. From there, he moved to Cedar Falls and attended the University of Northern Iowa where he received a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, he taught third grade for three years in Missouri, and during this time, attended Northwest Missouri State University--receiving his Master’s degree in Administration.
From Missouri, Dr. Wagner moved to Minnesota and taught fifth grade. After one year in Minnesota, he and his wife moved back to Illinois to be closer to family. After two years teaching third grade and a year of teaching sixth grade in Chillicothe, Illinois, Dr. Wagner was fortunate enough to receive a position as the Elementary and Jr. High School Principal at R.O.W.V.A. He spent two years as the principal there and then received a position as the Jr. High School Principal of Oak Grove. During this time, Dr. Wagner earned his Superintendent's endorsement from Illinois State University and, in 2010, he was given the responsibility of leading Oak Grove as their Superintendent. He earned his Educational Doctorate through Aurora University.
Dr. Wagner is happily married to his wife, Dara. They have two children, a son and a daughter. They also have two dogs, Willie and Walter.
When asked about his proudest moments so far as District 322's Superintendent, Dr. Wagner responded by saying, "I am very pleased with the way the Junior High remodel and addition has worked out. The staff, administration, Board and community have been tremendously supportive throughout the entire process. I look forward to continuing the process of bringing our facilities up-to-date over the next several years. Additionally, the collaborative efforts of the Board and staff were able to produce a balanced budget the past two years, and we will work each and every year to do the same regardless of the financial constraints that affect the schools of Illinois."

I am an avid sports fan and a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. I take great pride in family, friends, and the Elmwood School/Community.
Elmwood Elementary is a small community school, with a rich history, overwhelming community support, and high expectations for student achievement and success. This is evidenced by receiving the 2013 National Blue Ribbon School Award Nomination, and also earning an Academic Excellence Award from the Illinois State Board of Education. It is a privilege to be a part of the Elmwood School/Community, and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead. I know that with the help of the outstanding faculty, staff, students, and Elmwood Parents’ Club here at EES, we will continue to strive to achieve continued success.
Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance.
