KINDERGARTEN OPEN HOUSE
Elmwood Elementary will be holding a Kindergarten Open House for those parents and next year’s Kindergarten students on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. If you have a child that is five years old or who will be turning five on or before September 1, 2017, Kindergarten is in your child’s future. We will begin the Kindergarten Open House at 6:00 p.m. with a Parent Meeting in the Gym. You will receive registration information, meet the teachers, see the classrooms, and have the opportunity to have all your questions answered.
Begin to look for your child’s birth certificate. Feel free to bring this with you and we will make a copy for our files. Physical examinations and the required immunizations must be completed by a physician prior to the first day of school and be given to the school for verification. Parents are encouraged to arrange their appointments with their child’s physician well in advance of the beginning of the school year. Please make every effort to turn in all immunization information prior to the start of school.
The general immunizations required for school include:
All children enrolling in Kindergarten are required to have a Vision Examination.
The Blood Lead Poisoning Prevention Act of 1994 requires the screening of children (ages 6 months to 6 years of age) for lead poisoning and a statement from a physician or health care provider verifying the screening prior to admission to school.
If you have questions regarding this information, please call the school (742-4261). All required examinations, immunizations, and forms must be on file in the office before the first day of school.
DENTAL EXAMS FOR STUDENTS
All children in Kindergarten, second and sixth grades are required to have a dental examination. All children must be in compliance by May 15, 2016. Please call the office if you have questions or concerns. Dental forms are available in the office.
STUDENT PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REMINDER (2017-2018)
A Health Examination is required before entering school for all Kindergarten and 6th grade students. All required examinations, immunizations, and forms must be on file in the office by the first day of school. Any 5th grade child participating in athletics will need a sport’s physical.
All students entering, transferring, or advancing into 6th grade will be required to show proof of receipt of one dose of Tdap vaccine (containing tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis). Most students may have already received the vaccine and simply need to provide the school with verifying documentation from the family health care provider. All students entering 6th grade will also be required to show proof of one dose of Meningococcal Meningitis vaccine given on or after their 11th birthday.
Please take a moment to think if any of the emergency phone numbers you recorded on registration forms last summer have changed. Send a note to your child’s teacher or the office if your work numbers, all phones, emails, or family and friends’ numbers have changed. If we need to reach you in a hurry accurate numbers can make a difference.
We have recycled 10,980 pounds or 5.49 tons of recycling material. Great job everyone.
