I just would like to thank the school board, the best faculty and staff in Illinois, the greatest students, Mr. Kahn, Dr. Alvey, Dr. Wagner, and especially Mrs. Meyers, Mr. Frost, Michele, Marybeth, and Mr. Waddell for making my working experience at Elmwood the greatest place to be a part of in my education career! I have loved my experience here at this awesome school, but it has gone by so quickly! I want to thank everyone that has supported me or at least respected the decisions I have made over the last 11 years, those of you that have not, then good bye! I hope to stay in contact with many of you and I am very excited to see the physical change in the school over the next few years! Mr. McCoy has come home and will do a fantastic job in a school district that he knows so well. On that note I would like to tell Mr. McCoy congratulations on getting the best Jr./Sr. High principal job in central Illinois.
HS graduation will be held on May14th @ 1:00 pm. Doors will open at 11:30. We ask that you do not save seats with signs but have seats filled with bodies to avoid confrontation! The doors on the Morgan street side will be open near the office as will the rear coach’s office door near the track!

2017 Basketball Strength & Skill Development Clinic
Sign up today for Coach Fugitt's annual 3-day clinic that focuses on skill development and overall core and body strength related to basketball specific movements. Any boys or girl entering the 6th, 7th, or 8th grades next year is welcome, and there is no entry deadline. Prairieland Conference Art Show
Congratulations to the Elmwood Art students for receiving second place in the Prairieland Conference art show held at Carl Sandburg College. The following students received awards in the competition:

Congratulations to the Girls' Basketball Team and Coach Meyers
The Lady Trojans, led by coach Gregg Meyers, had 20 wins for the first time in Elmwood's history! The entire Elmwood community wants to congratulate the team for a great season and a historic record. Great job girls!
Illinois State Scholars Announced
The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) has announced the 2017-2018 Illinois State Scholars. The Illinois State Scholars Program recognizes Illinois high school students for outstanding academic achievement.
Illinois State Scholars represent approximately the top ten percent of high school seniors from 765 high schools across the state. Illinois State Scholars possess strong academic potential and are chosen based on a combination of exemplary ACT or SAT test scores and sixth semester class rank.
Congratulations to the following students: Arissa Huffcutt, daughter of Allen & Eulail Huffcutt; Cassandra Karn, daughter of Jeff & Colleen Karn; Regan McFall, daughter of Harry & Christen McFall; Logan Spainhower, son of Roger & Shari Spainhower; and Hailey Stephens, daughter of James & Kristi Stephens on this outstanding achievement.
Mr. Rusty Koll Wins HOI and CEFCU One Classroom at a Time Award
Mr. Rusty Koll, Elmwood High School English and Media teacher, was nominated by a parent for the HOI and CEFCU One Classroom at a time Award. Mr. Koll was selected as the award recipient and was presented with a $1000 check on Wednesday, January 11th, during his Media class, for which the money will be used. The presentation of the award will air on January 25th at 5:00 P.M. and again the next morning. Congratulations to Mr. Koll and his Media class!
Elmwood Prom 2017
This year's Prom will be here soon! The Grand March will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 4:30 P.M. in the High School Auditorium. Dinner and dancing will follow from 6:00 to 11:00 P.M. at Ravina on the Lakes. For questions, please contact Mrs. Roberts.
Coach Todd Hollis Recognized By Peoria County Chiefs of Police Association
Science teacher and high school football coach, Todd Hollis, is being recognized by the Peoria County Chiefs of Police Association with an award for everything he has done with the Men of Virtue program. The Peoria County Chiefs of Police Association stated that the program has been followed by many throughout the area and that everyone is impressed and appreciative of the values Coach Hollis is teaching the young men (and women) of our communities.
Mr. Hollis will be honored on Thursday, December 8th, at 11:30am during an awards luncheon held at Farview Farms. The Elmwood community congratulates Mr. Todd Hollis on his award and thanks him for the work he does with our students!
Amy Christ Top In FFA
This year Amy Christ has been doing an outstanding job representing the Elmwood FFA. Amy competed and won with her Record book in Fruit Production at Section, District and State. She will be applying to compete at Nationals this June.
Along with her record book, Amy has completed in Prepared Public Speaking. Her speech which she created and researched, titled, "Do Consumers Bite the Hand That Feeds Them" has enabled her to win at Section 5 and place Section in District 1. Amy will be competing at State Public Speaking in June. We look forward to she her accomplishments in the future. Great Job Amy!
On December 2nd Jennifer Beard, President of Farmers State Bank, presented to the students of Elmwood High School on how to responsibly use credit. Jennifer spoke about types of credit, how to obtain credit, and building relationships with community banks. She presented to Mrs. Jatkowski's Resource Management class and Mrs. Davis's Advanced Business Math class.
FCS Program Receives Grant
Mrs. Jatkowski's Family and Consumer Science department received a grant from the St. Louis District Dairy Council. The Dollar for Dairy in the Classroom is funded by local dairy farmers. The Elmwood FCS program is excited to focus on lessons incorporating dairy products such a cheese, milk, and butter.
Popcorn Friday will again be happening in 2017! This semester the money will be going to the 2018 European Travelers for transportation costs. Thank you for supporting Elmwood students!

FCS Class Donates Quilts to Children's Hospital
The quilts were made by the Intro to FCS students and donated to the Children's Hospital of Illinois located in Peoria. The students were able to personally deliver their quilts and meet the patients during the visit on October 12. The philanthropic service project was coordinated by FCS teacher Mrs. Jatkowski.
