Return to Play and Live Stream of Athletic Events

There is a buzz in the air with the announcements from IESA and IHSA about the upcoming athletic seasons. Mr. Vermillion and Mrs. Meyers are working with coaches by setting up practice schedules, contacting other schools for games, and going through the health and safety protocols for hosting events. Just like this summer when we all worked together to make sure we were following the Illinois State Board of Education guidelines and Illinois Department of Public Health COVID protocols, there is a lot of thought and planning that has to happen before the first game.

While we are all excited to have this opportunity for our students, not every decision made will make everyone happy. With the need for space and social distancing for the essential elements of a sporting event, we will not have fans attending our indoor events at this time. After adding up the number of players, coaches, referees, scorebook keepers, timers, and opposing team members, we will be close if not at our 50 person gym capacity. Our solution for this disappointing news is to live stream events and utilize the cameras in the gyms to provide synchronous viewing of our games. Live- streaming will enable our students, staff, parents, and community to still watch our teams and keep to the necessary safety procedures.

We thank you for your continued support of our student-athletes and our ever-evolving situation. We will continue to do our best to provide you with up-to-date information as the IHSA and IESA release it. Please contact the office if you have any questions.
