Elmwood CUSD #322 Unveils New Strategic Plan to Guide District

Elmwood, IL – [7.11.2025] — Elmwood Community Unit School District #322 is proud to announce the adoption of its new five-year Strategic Plan, a roadmap designed to elevate student outcomes, strengthen community partnerships, and ensure long-term sustainability for the district.

Anchored in the district’s core values and guided by the theme “The Trojan Way: A Tradition of Excellence,” the Strategic Plan outlines clear goals across five priority areas:

• Safety – Optimize resources to provide a safe physical, social, and emotional environment for all.
  

• Student Success – Nurture the development of admirable character, uphold academic rigor, and provide an inclusive learning environment to foster student success.
  

• Community – Welcome family and community involvement to develop meaningful relationships.
  

• Fiscal Responsibility – Ensure fiscal accountability through transparent communication, future-focused planning, and sustainable resource allocation; prioritize long-term goals over short-term spending.
  

• Facilities – Maintain and upgrade facilities to provide the highest quality resources for learning spaces and extracurricular activities

“This plan represents the collective vision of our staff, families, students, and community members,” said Joel Schmieg, Superintendent of Elmwood CUSD #322. “It reflects our commitment to ensuring that every student is equipped with the skills, character, and resilience to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.”

The strategic planning process included extensive community input, reflecting the district’s belief that strong schools are built through strong partnerships. The plan will guide decision-making, resource allocation, and district initiatives through 2029.
