The Trojan Way is a set of core values that define the culture and expectations of our school and community. Today's focus is on "T" .
Tradition: The Trojan Way values the rich history and culture that has shaped our community. It emphasizes respect for past achievements, learning from those who came before, and passing down important practices and beliefs to future generations. Tradition helps build pride and unity within our community.

Thank you to Jerry Pallotta, author of the "Who Would Win?" series, for speaking with our 1st and 8th graders today! We learned a lot about the writing process and gained inspiration from his advice: "Every author I meet is a big reader."

Today in the Industrial Arts shop, Caleb Kenny and Cooper Brown a sign for the shop and have been working on it for a week and planning to make it next week! This is a great opportunity for our students in the shop to be a part of this project.

7th graders celebrated their reading with an eggcellent March Book Talk Potluck on Friday! Each student designed an egg to symbolize a character from their book. We want to send a huge "thank you" to our parents for donating snacks!

We are excited to announce Jeff Lampe as the recipient of the March Community Member of the Month! Jeff has volunteered his time behind the scenes on several different organizations which help set Elmwood apart from other communities. Jeff has served as a youth baseball and basketball coach for several years, Elmwood Junior High Baseball coach, organized the Elmwood Biddy Ball program for several years, oversaw the Community Center for several years, active member of Kiwanis, a City Council Member, active member of St. Patrick's Church, and served as the Treasurer of the Elmwood Palace Theater. Jeff is also one of the founding members of the Elmwood All Outdoors Show, which ran for 10 years. Jeff also began the Weekly Post in Elmwood in 2013, providing high level coverage to highlight amazing accomplishments of our students, school, and community members! Most small rural towns do not have the amenities that Elmwood has to offer, and Jeff has volunteered his time to help maintain the tradition and excellence of Elmwood for many years, and documents history being made each day! Congratulations on being recognized as our March Community Member of the Month! #TheTrojanWay

Congratulations to Jessica Coulter, our JH/HS staff award recipient for March. She is the anchor of the cafeteria staff, the go-to person for answers, and is a problem solver when staff members are sick or a shipment doesn’t arrive. We admire her caringness and positive encouragement to others as she demonstrates the characteristics of #TheTrojanWay.

Congratulations Trojans 4x800 relay team on finishing 6th an Illinois Top Times Indoor State Meet.

Honors English IV performed their own Shakespearean scripts today. They were required to write an epilogue to Shakespeare's play, Much Ado About Nothing, using the Bard's language and iambic-pentameter. They were very creative and did a good job.

Student You Should Know winners for March at Elmwood JH/HS: Ellie Crow and J Hampton. Their teachers recognized them for exemplifying great work ethics, showing kindness, and positively impacting their peers. #TheTrojanWay
