Sixth-grade student Collins Maier traded the classroom for the Superintendent’s Office today as she joined Mr. Schmieg as Superintendent for the Day!
Collins had a busy schedule! She started the morning by opening doors and welcoming students to school with a joke, helped deliver our Community Member of the Month Award, served as a line judge during the High School Homecoming Games, and even helped make a few important decisions throughout the day!
Of course, being Superintendent works up an appetite, so a McDonald’s lunch was a must! 🍟
Collins finished her day by helping give our high school students a bus ride to work on their class Homecoming floats. 🚌🎉
It was a full day of leadership, school spirit, and fun! Thanks for spending the day with Mr. Schmieg and helping lead Elmwood, Superintendent Maier! 👏🧡🖤

Day 2 of ACS Games brought the Juniors vs Freshmen on the volleyball court. Despite their best efforts, the Freshmen lost to their Junior counterparts.

For more than 20 years, Bob and Kim have been the creative forces behind the beautiful planters and flower displays throughout Elmwood. Together, they have dedicated countless hours to designing, planting, and maintaining the planters and flower boxes that brighten our downtown, parks, and community throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Their work makes a lasting impression and helps make Elmwood a beautiful and welcoming place to call home. 🌸🌼
Bob’s commitment to serving Elmwood also spans more than 20 years. He has dedicated his time to serving on the Elmwood City Council and supporting our local parks, while also spending more than two decades helping organize Manna Meals. Through Manna Meals and his service to the United Methodist Church, Bob continues to help provide meals to members of our community, you may even see him stopping by the school to pick up milk for the program.
Kim has also given her time and talents directly to Elmwood students. When Elmwood transitioned from its volleyball cooperative with Brimfield and started its own junior high volleyball program, Kim stepped up to serve as a junior high volleyball coach, helping support our student-athletes and the growth of the new program. 🏐
For more than two decades, Bob and Kim have generously shared their time, talents, and passion with Elmwood. Whether beautifying our community, serving those in need, supporting our parks, or working with our students, their dedication is a wonderful example of what makes Elmwood such a special place.

Another English III class enjoyed a nature scavenger hunt and found appreciation for Emerson's philosophy about nature.
Friendly reminder that our informational meeting for the speech team is tomorrow at 6pm in room 300 for all 5th-8th grade students interested in joining the speech team.
Our Staff Spotlight this week is Mr. Luke Pratt! Luke has been at Elmwood for 9 years. He is our Band Director for our 5-12 Graders. Why did he decide to become a music teacher? Luke knew he wanted to become a music teacher during his junior year of high school after a conversation with his mom about possible future career paths.
Favorite Memory: I have 2. Performing Kam Stevenson’s original piano piece “Undecided Waltz” at Spring Suite in 2025. "Seeing students make their own music moments and find a safe place in my classroom." Congrats Mr. Pratt!!!

Congratulations to both our Boys F/S and our Boys Varsity X-Country teams. The Elmwood/Brimfield boys Teams were meet Champions in both races. We also had several of our guys bring home individual awards,too. GREAT DAY TROJANS!!
The EB Girls XC team won the Dale Donner Invitational in Walnut, Illinois. Bristol (6th), Berlyn (7th), Mya (11th), Riley (12th), and Maya (18th) all placed on the top 20! Sophie, Grace, and Eisley also put up season best performances. Good team effort, girls!
