We enjoyed the AI Workshop at University of Illinois Springfield. They had some great presenters talking about the future of AI in the workplace. After that, we enjoyed lunch at Rt 66 Motörhead Cafe. Thanks Syd and Gavin for making the trek!!

2P planned an April Fool's prank on Mrs. Peters. What they didn't know was Mrs. Peters had a prank of her own. Students read and answered questions about the SLOOF LIRPA BIRD. They went outside and called for the bird by making chirping noises that sounded like laughter while holding a carrot in their hand. They had high hopes the bird would come, but SLOOF LIRPA is just April Fools spelled backwards!!

Mr. Schmieg raced the second graders across the football field! There were a few that almost had him! They said, "He is just SO fast!"

6th grade students presented to 2nd graders about space. Students were very engaged with the topic and had many questions for the big kids!

Third Trimester STEM students with Miss Baldes finished up their paper roller coaster projects today!

The Trojan Way is a set of core values that define the culture and expectations of our school and community. Today's focus is on "T" .
Tradition: The Trojan Way values the rich history and culture that has shaped our community. It emphasizes respect for past achievements, learning from those who came before, and passing down important practices and beliefs to future generations. Tradition helps build pride and unity within our community.

Thank you to Jerry Pallotta, author of the "Who Would Win?" series, for speaking with our 1st and 8th graders today! We learned a lot about the writing process and gained inspiration from his advice: "Every author I meet is a big reader."

Today in the Industrial Arts shop, Caleb Kenny and Cooper Brown a sign for the shop and have been working on it for a week and planning to make it next week! This is a great opportunity for our students in the shop to be a part of this project.

7th graders celebrated their reading with an eggcellent March Book Talk Potluck on Friday! Each student designed an egg to symbolize a character from their book. We want to send a huge "thank you" to our parents for donating snacks!

We are excited to announce Jeff Lampe as the recipient of the March Community Member of the Month! Jeff has volunteered his time behind the scenes on several different organizations which help set Elmwood apart from other communities. Jeff has served as a youth baseball and basketball coach for several years, Elmwood Junior High Baseball coach, organized the Elmwood Biddy Ball program for several years, oversaw the Community Center for several years, active member of Kiwanis, a City Council Member, active member of St. Patrick's Church, and served as the Treasurer of the Elmwood Palace Theater. Jeff is also one of the founding members of the Elmwood All Outdoors Show, which ran for 10 years. Jeff also began the Weekly Post in Elmwood in 2013, providing high level coverage to highlight amazing accomplishments of our students, school, and community members! Most small rural towns do not have the amenities that Elmwood has to offer, and Jeff has volunteered his time to help maintain the tradition and excellence of Elmwood for many years, and documents history being made each day! Congratulations on being recognized as our March Community Member of the Month! #TheTrojanWay

Congratulations to Jessica Coulter, our JH/HS staff award recipient for March. She is the anchor of the cafeteria staff, the go-to person for answers, and is a problem solver when staff members are sick or a shipment doesn’t arrive. We admire her caringness and positive encouragement to others as she demonstrates the characteristics of #TheTrojanWay.
